Sports fanfares, movie soundtracks and songs. Carl Topilow conducts the Cleveland POPS in a concert dedicated to the champions and heroes of sports. Hear "Chariots of Fire," "Rocky," "The Natural," "Field of Dreams," "Rudy" and many more. Guest appearances by famous sports personalities and surprises galore.

Saturday, February 2, 2008 – 8:00 p.m. – Severance Hall
FANTASIES AND FAIRYTALES

Carl Topilow, Cleveland POPS and guest stars weave a musical adventure through the world's favorite stories. Featuring singers Jodi Benson (the movie voice of Ariel in "The Little Mermaid"), Gary Mauer (Broadway's "Phantom) and William Michals (Broadway's Beast from "Beauty and the Beast"). Hear music and songs from "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "The Little Mermaid," "Hercules," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and many more of your story book favorites.

There is something supremely magical and romantic about the sounds of acoustic guitar, especially when played by a master. No one in the world plays it better than our guest artist Esteban. His name was given him by his teacher and legendary classical guitarist Andres Segovia, who called him "Esteban." Since then to the present day, Esteban has topped the Billboard charts many times with his numerous albums, videos and DVD's, and has had first-time music history successes never before accomplished by any guitarist. Hear his world famous renditions of "Fuego Malaguena," "Runaway." "Besame Mucho," "Sedona Sunrise,""Here Comes the Sun," "Duende" and many more of the world's most beloved melodies.

The United States Army Field Band & Chorus joins Carl Topilow and your Cleveland POPS in an epic tribute to the men and women – past and present -- who serve our country in the cause of freedom. Hear the heart pounding "1812 Overture" played by these combined musical forces. Also "Liberty Fanfare," "Armed Forces Medley," "The Stars and Stripes Forever" and many more.

The multi-faceted, classic American baritone Daniel Narducci is featured in the POPS famous family-friendly Holiday matinee dedicated to the traditional and popular music and songs of the Yuletide season. Experience a Sunday afternoon of favorites, including "White Christmas," "Joy to the World," "Silent Night," "What Child is This," also songs of Hanukah. In the POPS usual festive style, the lobby will be filled with fun for kids and all family members. Puppies and kittens from local shelters, free treats, strolling carolers and a visit from Santa Claus.

CLEVELAND POPS PRESENTS NEW YEAR'S EVE AT THE COPA

Join Carl Topilow and your Cleveland POPS Orchestra on a fabulous New Year's Eve virtual adventure to New York's most elegant and the world's most famous nightclub – THE COPACABANA. Hear the songs of BARRY MANILOW, the composer and entertainer who made the "Copa" a household word, The show features "The Best of Barry Manilow" as performed by Broadway's "Phantom" Gary Mauer. He'll perform Barry's greatest hits, including "Mandy," "I Write the Songs," "Copacabana," "Can't Smile Without You" and many more.

The fabulous evening includes a full two-hour concert beginning at 9:00 p.m., followed by social dancing from 11:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. to two bands in two locations at magnificent Severance Hall. There will be numerous cash bars throughout the hall, FREE desserts and coffee and a gigantic balloon drop at midnight.
