Come celebrate Abe Lincoln's
200th Birthday

Hear the music Abe heard during his stay at the White House

Join Cleveland POPS at Severance Hall on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. for our 9th Annual Salute to Our Armed Forces. Meet James Getty, America's leading interpreter of our 16th president, as we pay tribute to one of the nation's greatest leaders on the 200th anniversary of his birth.

Mr. Getty will speak to the audience in the words and demeanor of Abraham Lincoln, and will narrate Aaron Copland's stiring "A Lincoln Portrait."

Guest artists will include Saxton's Cornet Band. The band is an authentic recreation of the sounds, instruments, appearance, and conduct of brass bands during the antebellum and Civil War eras.

Also featured will be the acclaimed Mutual Gifts Gospel Choir.
