Subscription Series

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra announces
a unique and visually enticing 2009-2010 season line-up. The
season includes a five-concert subscription series at Severance Hall and the annual holiday family matinee at the Palace Theatre in PlayhouseSquare Center. The 2009-2010 season has a mix of Friday and Saturday night performances. The highlight of the new season is the musical emphasis on scores from blockbuster Hollywood movies enhanced with scenes from the films projected on a big screen. The orchestra will perform some of the most memorable movies scores ever composed. Bill O/Connell, Program Manager of Cleveland classical music station WCLV 104.9 FM and popular radio host, will use his encyclopedic knowledge of movie music to enhance the concert experience for Cleveland Pops concertgoers.
Family Concert
The Cleveland POPS continues its emphasis on family holiday
entertainment with "Holiday in Toyland" on
Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Palace Theatre in PlayhouseSquare
Center. This special concert will start at 3:00 PM to accommodate
whole families, including children and grandparents.
Special Event

The best New Year's Eve party in town! That's
what Clevelanders call The Cleveland POPS Orchestra's
New Year's Eve Concert & Dance at
Severance Hall. The 14th Annual Event will take place on New
Year's Eve, with a concert at 9 PM and social dancing beginning
at 11 PM and lasting well into the new year.

The 2009-2010 Subscription Series concerts and the New Year's
Eve concert are held at Severance Hall, located at 11001 Euclid
Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106 in the heart of University Circle.

"Holiday in Toyland" will

In a swinging musical tribute to the famous big bands of yesteryear, the Cleveland POPS Orchestra presents a salute to Benny Goodman, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Gene Krupa and other big band legends. The Cleveland POPS' own clarinet wizard, Maestro Carl Topilow, will be joined by POPS orchestra members Jack Schantz on trumpet, Paul Ferguson on trombone, George Judy on drums, the stylish vocals of Barbara Knight and the swing dancing of Bobby and Brooke Wesner as Severance Hall rocks with the sounds and sights of the Big Band years.

The Cleveland POPS hoiday show is the perfect outing for the whole family.The orchestra celebrates the sounds of the holiday season as they perform traditional favorites and invite the audience to join in a Yuletide sing-along. Delightful holiday ballads sung by vocalist Jodi Brinkman; hear the thrilling harmony of the Baldwin-Wallace College Men's Chorus. See Big Screen scenes from beloved Hollywood film classics. Parents, grandparents and children can visit with adorable, adoptable puppies and kittens in the Palace Theatre lobby before the show and during intermission. Santa Claus will pay a visit and share treats with all the boys and girls. What a great way to start the Holiday season right!
Help The City Mission and Cleveland POPS make this holiday extra special for Northeast Ohio children in need by providing a new toy or game when you come to "Holiday in Toyland"
Cleveland POPS will be collecting new toys and games at our concert on November 29, 2009 to help The City Mission in their drive to help a lot of our city's kids in need have a happier Yuletide season. Please bring an unwrapped new toy or game, suitable for either infants, children or teens, and place it in the special collection bins at the Palace Theatre before the concert. Sports equipment, board games and multi-cultural dolls are especially appreciated. Please avoid bringing magic or violent toys.

Rocks!)
Severance Hall
Cleveland POPS welcomes the new year with a rousing concert of music from Broadway's contemporary musicals. The concert starts at 9:00 p.m. Broadway singers J. Mark McVey (Les Miserables, Tommy, Chess, South Pacific, Little Shop of Horrors) and Capathia Jenkins (Dreamgirls, Bubblin' Brown Sugar, Ain't Misbehavin', Children of Eden) will sing selections from Phantom of the Opera, Tommy, Rent, Lion king, Mamma Mia, The Wiz, Hairspray, Dreamgirls and more.
The 2-hour concert will be followed at 11:00 p.m. with social dancing to two different bands in two different locations within Severance Hall.

The talented acts will include the incredible team of strongmen Jarek and Darek; the spellbinding mime and juggling feats of Vladimir Tsarkov and Russia's national champion gymnast Elena Tsarkova, known as the captivating "Lady in White."
