Cleveland Pops Orchestra Plays and Scores with Music of Champions Concert
Cleveland, OhioAugust 27, 2007The Cleveland
Pops Orchestra kicks off its 2007-08 season with a rousing musical
salute to the world of sports. This exceptional concert features
an evening of sport themed musical favorites from popular movies,
television, stage, college and professional athletics including
selections from Chariots of Fire, Rocky, The
Natural,
Field of Dreams, Hoosiers, Rudy, Casey
at the Bat,
"Take Me Out to the Ballgame," John Williams' "Summon
the Heroes," the always popular "Hang on Sloopy" and
other college fight songs, and a very special rendition of Beethoven's
Fifth Symphony. The evening will conclude with the Cleveland
Pops performing Queen's
classic stadium theme, We Are the Champions. The concert also features
a giant screen showing synchronized movie clips, the best of NFL
Films sports video clips and more. Sponsored by the Cleveland Indians,
the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the evening includes
special appearances by team mascots, former professional players
and local sports media personalities.
